(Almost) Instant Gratification - Pink Mitts

I got the Nov/Dec issue of "Crochet Today" at about 5 pm yesterday.  By 10 o'clock last night, I had whipped these puppies up!  Pretty close to instant mitts, if you ask me!

The Details:
Pattern: Cabled Mitts by Brenda K.B. Anderson
Yarn:  Cascade 220 Wool, Pink
Hook: Size "G" (4 mm)

I think they came out great!  They certainly were very fast to make - I can see a few more of these getting made soon!

New FO - Kevie's Wedding Afghan

This is a wedding present for Dan’s uncle Kevin, aka Kevie who is getting married next month. Dan picked the yarn to match Kevie’s living room (I hope!)

The Yarn is Red Heart acrylic, "Shaded Browns", approx. 5.5 skeins.  I used a U.S. size "K" hook (6.5 mm)and  my own original pattern, "Zowie's ZigZags Afghan" which is for sale in my Ravelry shop!

Finished size is approx. 48 X 65".

And a close up of the pattern:

Beanies abound

It was an all head-gear sort of weekend. First up, the crochet. Beanie on left is "Lace Cap" by Kim Werker, beanie on right is "Solid DC Skully" by Sarah A. Both done in Lily Sugar 'n Cream yarn, with a size "H"(5mm) hook. Modeled by the always suave and debonair Duke of York, 5/16/10.

Now, on to the knitting. All three beanies are "Beanie & Cecil" by me, available in the right sidebar. Size 7 U.S. needles, Lily Sugar 'n Cream yarn. 5/14-15/10

Mother's Day Loot & FO

Well, I scored some wonderful yarn from Dan for Mother's Day! Webs was having a sale on Noro Cash Iroha and I got 4 skeins of a beautiful grey:

I also finished the 8 Pointed Baby Blanket:

All in all, a pretty good week for fiber.

Beanies Abound!

I've finished off three beanies over the past two days, two pinks and a green. The green one isn't in the photo because I need to re-work the brim. Here are the other 2:

On left is Beanie & Cecil from my own pattern - available for free in the right sidebar. On the right is the Twin Stitch Variation of The Solid DC Skully.

Both are made from KnitPick's Shine Sport in "Blush". The crochet skully used a size 7 hook (4.5mm). This version of Beanie & Cecil used size 4 dpns(3.5mm). I did modify the pattern to work better with the sport weight yarn. If interested, leave me a message and I'll let you know just what I did.

All Shawl, Y'all!

Finished another gray shawl:

Details:
Pattern: All Shawl by Doris Chan
Yarn: Lion Brand Homespun in "Edwardian"(
#790-312 )& "Candy Apple"(#790-375)
Hook: "L" (U.S.)

The edging is minus the very last (Picot Fan) row for 2 reasons: 1) I disliked the “nipple” effect the picots gave it and 2) I wasn’t sure I’d have enough yarn to finish the whole row anyhow!

The model in the second photo is, of course, HRH The Duke of York, who deigned to grace the shawl with his furry seal of approval.
